1. Pick one big idea and lean all the way in
The most successful parties commit to a single theme — superheroes, unicorns, science lab, dance party, magic show — and let that idea drive every decision. Decor, snacks, activities, the music playlist, even the goodie bags should all feel like they belong together. Children notice the consistency, and a unified theme makes your photos pop. Bonus: it dramatically narrows the number of decisions you have to make. Instead of "what kind of plates?" you're asking "what kind of unicorn plates?"
2. Keep the run-of-show tight (but flexible)
Kids parties run on momentum. Build a loose schedule with 20-to-30-minute "blocks" — arrival and free play, the main activity (a magician, face-painting, a craft), snack break, cake, and an open finale.
